Osa Freedivers is a freediving school rooted in the belief that the ocean changes people — if you let it. Located on the shores of the Golfo Dulce, one of the most biodiverse and protected marine environments in the world, we offer courses and experiences for every level, from first-time breathers to seasoned athletes looking to go deeper. What makes us different isn't just where we are. It's how we teach — with patience, warmth, and genuine care for every person who gets in the water with us.

Ruben Pacheco

Lead Instructor

Ruben's relationship with the ocean began long before he knew what freediving was. As a serviceman stationed in Hawaii, he'd finish his scuba dives and simply... keep going — slipping back into the water without a tank, diving down to stay among the reefs and fish a little longer. When he eventually discovered that what he'd been doing had a name, he fell completely in love. In 2018 he left the Air Force to pursue teaching full-time, traveling to Thailand to earn his instructor certification. Since then he has taught hundreds of students and earned 9 national freediving records for Puerto Rico — but it's the teaching that has always mattered most to him. Students consistently describe him as the calmest, most patient instructor they've ever had — the first one who helped them feel truly safe in the water.
